Product description

The MAGUS Lum 400 fluorescent microscope is designed for diagnostic and research tasks using fluorescent (reflected light) and bright field (transmitted light) microscopic methods. With optional accessories, dark field, phase contrast and polarization techniques can also be used. Fields of application of the fluorescence microscope: DNA analysis, study of pathogens, health and epidemiological surveillance, forensic investigation, etc.

Digital camera
MAGUS CHD40 is a digital HDMI camera with three video interfaces and automatic switching function between 4K and Full HD depending on the monitor resolution.
The camera's 8-megapixel sensor, connected via HDMI or USB 3.0, captures realistic 4K resolution (3840x2160 px) images. When connected via Wi-Fi, Full HD (1920x1080 px) image quality is available. The camera can be connected directly to a TV, monitor or projector with an HDMI interface. In this mode, the camera works independently without a computer. The HDMI connector provides a high and stable transfer rate when transferring from the camera to an external screen. You can connect the camera to a computer via Wi-Fi or USB 3.0. Video is recorded at 30 frames per second (fps).
The camera combines high FPS and high bandwidth HDMI. Thus, the videos have bright colors, there are no freezes or gaps between the frames. At maximum resolution, the image is well detailed, moving objects are visible without error, and the movement of objects is displayed without delay.

Monitor
The MAGUS MCD40 monitor is intended for use with the visualization system of the MAGUS microscope. The monitor is connected to a camera mounted on the microscope to display real-time images. MAGUS supports 4K HDMI cameras. The diagonal of the screen is 13.3 inches. The IPS matrix provides bright images with large viewing angles. If you look at the display from an angle, the color reproduction is not distorted. You can place the display on a folding stand, table or shelf, or attach it directly to the camera or microscope stand.

Optical elements
This is a trinocular microscope: The binocular (two-eyepiece) head part is tilted at an angle of 30°, and a digital camera (sold separately) can be installed in the three-eyepiece tube. The eyepiece tubes can be rotated 360°, so they can be easily adjusted according to the height of the user.

Five lenses can be placed in the rotating eyepiece. It comes with four infinity-plane achromatic lenses. One of them – a fluo objective with 40x magnification – was designed for fluorescence observations. 4x, 10x and 100x objectives can be used for the bright field microscopy technique. In order to achieve extra magnification within the magnification range of the microscope, an additional lens can be installed in the free socket of the turret head.

The turret with the objectives is oriented towards the interior - the user can see the objective inserted into the optical path.

Illumination
A 100 W mercury vapor lamp serves as a reflective source. It is located inside the lamp housing, which ensures efficient heat dissipation: The lamp does not overheat even during long operating hours. The lamp can be centered along three axes, ensuring optimal illumination of the work area. If it requires replacement, removing and installing the bulb is fairly easy. The mercury vapor lamp is suitable for fluorescent dyes because it has discrete peaks. Reflector lighting contains four excitation filters: ultraviolet (UV), violet (V), blue (B), and green (G).

Transmitted light source: 30 W halogen bulb. Bright enough to use with any zoom lens. Thanks to the color temperature of the lighting, even long observations do not strain the eyes. There is also a condenser in the lighting system. There is a slot for the (phase contrast or dark field) slider.

In the case of transmitted and reflected light, the Köhler lighting method can be used. When such lighting is installed, there is no darkening at the edges, the pattern is clearly visible, and image defects are eliminated.

Stage and focusing mechanism
The microscope has an ergonomically designed stage without a positioning stand. For reflected light observation, place a black slide on the stage to eliminate stray light. The sample holder can be removed and, if necessary, removed by loosening two screws. The focus knobs are coaxial and located on both sides of the microscope. Coarse focus has a locking knob and is adjustable in tension, while fine focus is used to adjust focus.

Accessories
MAGUS Lum 400 microscope can be equipped with additional accessories – digital camera, phase contrast device, polarization device, dark field condenser, eyepieces and objectives, dark field and phase contrast slider. To measure objects, you can supplement the configuration with a calibration slide
