Their colorful clothing, but especially their colorful embroideries, are now known even outside the country's borders. They took their name from King Mátyás, who granted them, the residents of Mezőkövesd, more freedom, and Mezőkövesd even issued and signed a document for them, from which they named the sons of Mátyás and finally Matyók.
