The study analyzes the musical works related to the 1956 revolution in a cultural studies approach. The basic question in all cases is what kind of connection can be shown between the piece of music and the revolution. The research considers biographies, sheet music entries, musical dramaturgy, audience and censorship interpretations as starting points. The composers in the book did not spare themselves the sounds of 56. Who mourned, who celebrated, who remembered in mass, cantata, concert. A good number of them paid the price for their audacity, while the lucky few won a well-deserved round of applause. On the sixtieth anniversary of the 1956 revolution, several pieces of music were presumably created. It is not yet clear whether the previous traditions will be continued, or whether an Egmont rewrite will appear, or perhaps an elemental piece of music.Windhager Károly Ákos (1975) PhD graduated in history in 2000 and comparative literature in 2001 at ELTE BTK.
