The history of a settlement can be written on the basis of surviving documents. However, if it is written from the memories of past and present residents, dry facts come to life, and history becomes a story. Antal Nagy wrote his book about his homeland, Hajdúböszörmény, with the intention of enriching history. The work is history, family and personal history, objective and subjective at the same time. Nothing proves its veracity better than the fact that it lists the ancestors of the former residents of the old garden street of its childhood, together with their birth and death data, and traces its own family tree back to the time of its grandparents, to the first half of the 19th century. The information about the events of the Second World War can also be important additions for historians, and from the history of the construction of their house on Dobó István Street, the reader can also learn about the technology of building the beaten wall. His personal statements about his eternal attachment to his native land are almost lyrical, subjective confessions. Antal Nagy was born on April 12, 1934 on a farm near Hajdúböszörmény, they only moved to the city later. He completed his elementary and high school studies locally, then continued his studies in Budapest, and remained a resident of Budapest even after finishing school. After a few detours, his workplace became the Ministry of the Interior - he retired from there as the senior deputy of the international relations department. perhaps the most lovable Hajdú town. The boulevard surrounded by a ring road has a settlement structure similar to that of Paris. According to Mihály Ráday, the main square named after the Bocskai prince who settled the Hajduks is one of the most beautiful and architecturally unified rural main squares. The businesses operating here provide a livable environment for the city's residents. Thanks to the tourism development of the last two decades, its tourism importance is also increasing, and it is increasingly competing with its two competitors, Hajdúszoboszlo and Hajdúnánás. That is why I am sure that Antal Nagy's monograph will be read with pleasure and interest not only by the local patriots of Böszörmény, but also by residents of more distant settlements.
