Two young brothers are trying to escape to Europe from their bombed and destroyed country. But they lose each other at the beginning of the journey, so they are forced to get by alone without a phone, without a map, without connections in a world unknown to them. From the alternating viewpoints of the two, the reader follows their complicated and painful journey through the vast and inhospitable machine-like Europe. The only thing that stands against this machine is the vulnerable human body, degraded into a problem and statistical data.

Sindelka does not moralize, she does not name those responsible - the strength of her novel is the painful dispassion through which we can feel in our guts one of the most defining world phenomena of our time. As he put it in an interview: "I wanted to write about people who faced total annihilation, total isolation. This book is about people, not refugees."
