Product description
"I read it with great pleasure, in fact, it is the larger-scale, perfectionist equivalent of Hamvas' wine wisdom, which is also referred to in it, in beer. Perhaps I could intuitively call his genre, scientifically speaking and not shying away from parodistic elements, an ideological capriccio based on highly educated material. The latter - among many others - can be exemplified by the passages written about the Rule of St. Benedict as a work of eminently Mediterranean, and therefore agro- (or agri) cultural foundations, a wine-philosophical work, which nevertheless opens up the horizon of the cosmic significance of beer in the reading experience: From Egypt to Greek metaphysics and European , through southern and northern mythology and history to Heidegger and (farther, looking at the primal elements – their replaceability –) to timelessness, everything sings the praises of beer. The style of the treatise is excellent, evenly and impeccably witty throughout, and it really conveys a lot of knowledge. And beer, as a sure and (at the same time) arbitrary base, lends an incomparable airiness to the thought process, without it losing its weight. So for me, it is also a model example of postmodern text formation, in the best sense." Marcell Mártonffy
