Product description
Cultural diplomacy, which is "causing foreign policy effects through cultural means", has existed since the formation of states. Globalization results in a more intense interaction between different cultures than ever before, and thus the importance of state cultural policies has also increased. Cultural diplomacy has become a key area. The majority of Asian countries became a global economic factor during the period when this "soft power" became central, and at the same time they began to promote their own language and culture internationally, trying to establish and restore their prestige and to have their new identity recognized.
The conference organized by the PPKE BTK Modern East Asia Research Group and the ELKH BTK Institute of Ethnography sought new approaches to explore the characteristics and processes characteristic of the cultural diplomacy of Asian countries and to understand its impact on the world. In addition to some of the lectures given at the conference, this volume is also supplemented with studies that have just been published. We are convinced that the writings can provide lessons not only for those interested in Asia today, but also for everyone who is interested in international relations and the theoretical and practical issues of the global processes taking place before our eyes.
