Product description
Written on the spine of the book is "Expositio I." title refers to the spirit of the joint venture. Its basic meaning can be found in classical Latin: 'explanation, display, exhibition' the meaning. The work could even be worn in the 'Trap of Mirrors' address as well. In this case, the photographer is the mirror itself. A series of traps accompanies his work. These are the pitfalls of mapping, or image creation, presentation or opinion creation. The offer of contemporary Hungarian fine art is amazingly wide and rich, it was only possible to select the fifty-seven artists in the volume in a subjective way, wearing the odium of the selection. Photographs do not compete with paintings, sculptures, in short, exhibits; but traditional black-and-white portrait photography and interior photography provide additional help in getting to know each artist. Art historian György Horváth's essays guide the reader with subtle elegance in the obvious triple units of artists-studios-works. The photographer who wrote the book, Mihály Borsos, had already implemented several serious, artistically and philosophically well-founded photographic programs before this work. He has come a long way to develop the language of program photography. His main works so far: the album presenting the Kossuth Prize-winning painter Ignác Kokas, the life album of the sculptor Tamás Fekete, the photo portrait volume published under the title Legendárium - Century Face Gallery, the historical/cultural history album Historicum, the book Late Gothic Winged Altars in Medieval Hungary, and numerous fine arts catalog. The common feature of these programs is that the photographer believes in the greatness and beauty of the face to be respected. We know little about the faces of contemporary artists, but now we have the opportunity to marvel at the suggestive, sometimes curious, hiding, observant, wisdom-radiating eyes of value creators. Expositio I. - Artists-studios-works. In this volume, Mihály Borsos and all his models wanted the same thing: to stand out, to expose themselves, their face, their studio to the eyes of those viewing the book and to exhibit their work, trusting that in addition to the face shown in the mirror of the photograph taken of him and the studio shown in the photographer's interpretation, the unity of the work he created it sends true and guiding signals about the things of life and the meaning of things
