Product description
The new volume of the Delelő Univerzum novel series is Newcomer in Space, whose title character is Jura Borogyin, a young vacuum welder. The conscientious and talented boy is on his way to Rhea, but due to family reasons, he has missed the departure of his spaceship by a day, he has fallen behind his group, and is therefore desperately trying to get some kind of travel opportunity to get to Saturn's moon in time.
The captain of the spaceship Tahmasib, Bikov, "contracts" Jura and employs him as an intern, so that the planned space travel is also possible for him.
On the way to Saturn, the protagonist experiences exciting adventures in different parts of the Solar System, meets the Martian settlers, who take up the fight against the flying giant leeches that make their lives miserable, finds traces of ancient "visitors", and realizes the life-threatening side of space exploration.
The novel is a typically Russian intellectual path-finding that feels a serious moral responsibility for the fate of humanity, because - while in the story the young Jura learns about the new possibilities and technical dangers of space exploration - at the same time, the reader can also learn about the ideological struggles of the Strugatsky brothers, who are slowly losing their faith in communism.
""All worldviews are based on beliefs and facts. Faith is more important, but facts are stronger. And when the facts begin to undermine faith... there is big trouble."" wrote Boris Natanovich Strugatsky.
The most important message of the authors' joint work this time: "The essence is always on Earth."
