Product description
The volume collects the author's studies, essays, and occasional writings written since 2006. Hungarian public life has changed a lot since then, and not only because of the acceleration of the IT revolution, or even the emergence of the X, Y, Z generations. In the first four years, defying the policy of the government at the time, Margit Ács defended the legitimacy of the national form of existence and the passing on of the cultural tradition, and then, when the political headwind died down, she investigated how we are dealing with our recent past, whether we know and appreciate the universality of our literature and its values have been ignored for decades in the name of fashionable fiction of modernity. MARGIT ÁCS (1941. Újpest) graduated from the Faculty of Arts of ELTE in 1964 with a degree in Hungarian history. From 1964 to 1987, he was the editor of Szépirodalmi Könyvkiadó, then between 1987-1992, Magvető Könyvkiadó. From 1992 to 2009, he headed the criticism and study section of Kortárs magazine. Member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts and the Hungarian Writers' Association. Winner of the Babérkoszorú and Attila József awards.
