The Rover Robotics expansion kit upgrades the mBot2 with new mechanical parts, so you can rebuild it for a wider range of challenges. It lets the robot move over rough terrain such as grass and gravel and, according to the manufacturer, climb slopes of up to 40 degrees. The tracked drive configuration makes it suitable for play and learning beyond flat floors and tabletops.

Additional components allow builds with gripping mechanisms, so the robot can pick up, lift, lower and release small objects. This opens the way to more demanding tasks and projects in which mechanics, design and operation can be tested hands-on.

After the upgrade, the mBot2 can still be programmed in the mBlock environment, which supports block-based coding and Python. Building, coding and testing your own solutions can be combined in one kit, making it well suited to hands-on, experimental learning.
