Amanda’s eleventh birthday should be a joyous event. Instead, she adorns her in a prickly costume chosen by her mother. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Amanda’s former best friend, Leo, also celebrates her birthday at a huge party featuring a hypnotist, a star soccer player, a giant dragon lizard and a rock band. Amanda can't wait to get over her birthday and finally not have the quarrel in her head that led to Leo and her celebrating separately for the first time in their lives. There is only one problem with this: the whole day starts again the next day.

During the hilarious and touching adventure, Amanda has to figure out how to move forward in multiple senses.
