Visconti-Sforza - A Visconti-Sforza Tarot

The Visconti-Sforza Tarot cards are also called the royal Tarot, as they were commissioned by an Italian princely family, and the images on the cards depict portraits of rulers, princes and other high-ranking persons. The card pack shows the twenty-two cards of the major arcana, also known as trumps and triumphs. These cards were made around the 1400s. The pages of the great arcanum, or great secret, reveal life to the readers of the pictures as a path of trials, i.e. a path of initiation. Due to the appearance of the Visconti-Sforza Tarot card, it was not made for the common man, but served the purpose of advising the rulers, i.e. they projected the desired future.
