      This USB adapter from VIRTUOS connects cash drawers to POS systems and works with Android, Linux and Windows. It needs no external power supply, drawing its 5 V, up to 200 mA, directly from the USB port. It opens the drawer and also monitors its status through a virtual RS-232 serial port.

      Built on the USB 2.0 interface with a Prolific PL2303TA chipset, the adapter generally needs no driver installation on newer Windows versions. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10, Linux, macOS and Android 4.2 or later.

      The adapter supports both 12 V and 24 V drawers, triggered by a falling voltage pulse, and can reopen the drawer at most every 5 seconds. The USB A-B cable is 1.2 metres long, and the unit measures 68 x 25 x 44 mm and weighs just 8 g. Virtuos drawers also require the separately sold 10P10C-6P6C-12V cable.
