TP-LINK MC212CS-20 Omada Gigabit WDM Media Converter

The TP-LINK MC212CS-20 Omada Gigabit WDM Media Converter links a Gigabit copper Ethernet connection on an RJ45 port with an optical fibre connection on an SFP port. It converts the electrical Ethernet signal into an optical one, letting you extend an existing network over fibre without replacing its copper infrastructure.

Transmission distance depends on the fibre type: roughly 0.55 km over multi-mode fibre and up to 10 km over single-mode fibre. According to the manufacturer, pairing it with the MC200L extends the link to about 20 km over a wireless connection. It suits multimedia, VoIP telephony, video surveillance and data centre networks.

Automatic cable correction and support for Link Fault Passthrough and Far End Fault let the converter report link failures, which makes troubleshooting faster. At 100 g and with a compact design, the media converter is easy to fit into existing network installations.
