    The TP-LINK MC200CM is a Gigabit multimode media converter that links copper and fibre networks. It converts 1000BASE-SX optical signals into 1000Base-T copper signals and back again, so an existing copper network can be extended over fibre. It follows the IEEE 802.3ab and IEEE 802.3z standards and uses SC connectors for multimode fibre cabling.

    The converter transmits and receives at 850 nm using short-wavelength (SX) laser specifications, supporting full wire-speed transfer. The TX port offers Auto MDI/MDI-X, and the FX port can be set to Force or Auto transmission mode. According to the manufacturer, multimode fibre links can reach distances of up to 550 metres.

    The MC200CM can be used as a standalone unit or mounted in a 19-inch rack. Front-panel status LEDs show the operating state at a glance.
