Its operation

The MC112CS is a media converter that converts 100BASE-FX optics to 100Base-TX copper-based transmission or vice versa. It uses WDM technology, the MC112CS transmits and receives data on a single fiber, which means cost savings. Based on IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards, MC112CS is designed to use single-mode fiber optic cables with SC type connection. The MC112CS supports the Long Wave (LX) laser specification at full wire transmission speed. It transmits at 1310nm and receives data at 1550nm. Accordingly, the device operating on the other side, which works together with the MC112CS, must transmit data at 1550nm and receive data at 1310nm. Another TP-LINK media converter, the MC111CS, is an example that works with the MC112CS converter.

Another feature of the module is that it can also be used as a stand-alone device, with Auto MDI/MDI-X and duplex auto negotiation at the TX port, and front panel status LEDs. The MC112CS transmits on the enlarged optical network, which can be up to 20 km in the case of single-mode optics.
