Product description
Ferenc Temesi burst into Hungarian fiction in 1977 with his series of short stories entitled "I see, I need to go down". In this book, too, the author's spirit of experimentation, the intention to cross genre boundaries, is already fully present in this book. The playfulness and gentleness of his prose, and a complex mixture of moods, in which the bitter and shocking hide shamefully behind the cheerful and light. It simultaneously creates a myth and immediately destroys it. Temesi has remained an eternal rebel even then and since then.
The protagonist of his book is Győző, the writer's alter ego from his youth. We follow his life path from the 1950s and 60s, from the time he was a small child. The stories take place in a small town, in a yard - where the little boy kicks the leather alone, yet determinedly -, in a school - where he scribbles on the bench like a bad kid - and at the university - read his first works here. We see Győző, the heroic world traveler, as he returns from the city limits, and the heroic teenager, who is actually heartbreakingly lonely.
Temesi shapes his material with a sure hand, skillfully deals with emotions and nuances of expression. Behind his playfulness and carelessness, the adolescent's vulnerability, increased sensitivity and sense of shame are hidden. "
