SYNOLOGY RS1626xs+

The Synology RS1626xs+ RackStation is a high-performance enterprise NAS system in a 1U rack chassis, designed to centralise data management, backup and monitoring. It is powered by an Intel Xeon D-1726 processor with 6 cores and 12 threads running at 2.9 to 3.5 GHz, paired with 16 GB of DDR4 ECC RDIMM memory that can be expanded to 64 GB.

The unit has four drive bays, which can be expanded to 16 with the RX1225RP expansion unit, and two M.2 NVMe SSD slots for cache. Network connectivity comes from two 10GbE ports, and a PCIe slot allows additional high-speed network ports to be installed.

High availability is supported by hot-swappable drives, online volume expansion, dual power supplies and clustering options. The system supports RAID F1, Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, along with SMB, AFP, NFS, FTP, WebDAV and Rsync file protocols. Add-on packages such as Surveillance Station, Synology Drive, Synology Office and Virtual Machine Manager extend its capabilities, the latter offering a virtualisation environment with VMware and Citrix support.
