Product description
The reader can hold a rich, multidisciplinary study volume. In the mediums of cultural transmission volume, we can find the writings of internationally recognized and eminent representatives of the fields of art history, cultural history, multimedia, film studies, music studies, cultural anthropology, dance anthropology, semiotics, and literary studies. In addition to the staff of Hungarian universities, research institutes, and museums, we can also read the writings of authors living abroad and publishing in English, as well as native English-speaking specialists in the compilation - in their original language. The study volume exemplifies how organic, sacred folk culture and the latest sound and image recording technologies live together, leaning into each other and strengthening each other. The fundamentally changed reception and cultural consumption habits force museologists and curriculum makers to change the way values are presented, without the values themselves disappearing in the process. There are many network-like threads in the volume. The threads of the fruitful collaboration of scientists, filmmakers, and not infrequently "scientist filmmakers" working on joint projects, with various expertise, which were strengthened over decades during the creation of a sophisticated exhibition, a successful anthropological documentary, and a unique Washington festival.
All the authors of the volume were traveling companions of János Tari during his varied and rich career. Just like János Tari, all of the authors approach their subject in an interdisciplinary, often multidisciplinary way, so that the perspective system of the different content units shifts across the chapter boundaries.
