Thanks to the innovative technologies of fast and accurate automatic focus, you can capture fleeting moments with amazing detail. A total of 425 phase-sensing AF points and contrast-sensing AF work together to deliver an extremely remarkable 0.02s, while high-signal AF tracking technology helps track even erratically moving subjects.

More accurate autofocus in low light
Exceptionally accurate autofocus is possible even in the dark thanks to the further development of the AF algorithm. For this type, the lower limit of the AF detection brightness range has been reduced to EV-2 in AF-S mode. (ISO 100 equivalent, F2.0 lens)

AF in the Focus Magnifier for precise focus adjustment
When you need exceptionally precise autofocus, for example when taking macro photos, you can display the area you want to focus on in a magnified view, and finally, you can precisely set the focus point in the viewfinder on the LCD screen.

The improved real-time Eye AF function also supports portraiture
Real-time Eye AF detects the subject's eye and automatically focuses on it when you press the shutter button halfway. You can choose left eye, right eye, or auto, and when AF-C mode is set, the camera maintains stable focus even when part of the face is not visible, when the face is backlit, or when the subject is looking down.

Easier manual focus adjustment with improved peak value function
The camera's peak value function applies color enhancement to the sharpest parts of the entire image area when using manual focus. We have now also added blue to the display's peak value colors (red, yellow, white) in order to improve the visibility of the sharpest areas during the detailed focusing required for portrait and macro photography.

Real-time tracking keeps the tracked topics sharp throughout
When tracking fast-moving subjects, the camera's advanced automatic motion tracking uses a newly developed subject detection algorithm to recognize and track the subject based on color, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth), and face/eye information.

Impressive image quality, low noise and a wider ISO range
The maximum standard ISO sensitivity has been increased to ISO 32000 (expanded to ISO 102400 for apertures), and thanks to improved imaging algorithms, detail reproduction technology and area division-based noise reduction, textures are even more realistic, shadow areas are more detailed, and colors, including human skin and natural plant colors, are more lifelike.

An innovative image processing system
The camera's APS-C size 24.2 megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor provides a wide sensitivity range and extremely low noise. When used together with the new generation BIONZ X image processing processor, you can create beautiful, high-resolution images with excellent image clarity and texture reproduction.

High-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking
Capture all the action with continuous shooting at up to 11 fps (post-view) (in "Hi+" mode) or 8 fps (silent shutter) and 8 fps (preview). The display delay has been minimized, so up to 116 JPEG (normal quality) images can be created, and the group display function is also available. The operation of the camera while writing data, as well as the access to various functions, have also been greatly improved. (Maximum frames per second depends on camera settings.)

4K video recording in high bitrate XAVC S format
4K video recording in the Super 35mm format with full pixel readout and no pixel dropout allows oversampling; approx. It allows recording 2.4 times as much data as is basically required for 4K recordings (QFHD: 3840 x 2160), thus providing 6K quality and much more realistic depth for images. The high-bitrate (max. 100 Mb/s) XAVC S format - a more user-friendly version of the format designed for professional use - and HLG support allow for more beautiful recordings.
