Rigó Tibor - Andrásifalvi-Faragó Zoltán - Világörökségek Magyarországon (2019)
Product description
World Heritage. This word entered the public consciousness in Hungary in 1987, when the first two sites, the Buda castle and the view of the Danube bank, as well as the folk dwellings of the Ófalu in Hollókő, the church with a wooden tower and the ruins of the medieval fortress, were added to the UNESCO list.
In addition to animate and inanimate natural values, national parks, and special habitats, works of the built environment are also included in our list of world heritage sites. Among them, you can find the simple adobe house from Palóc, as well as the building of the royal palace in Budavar, or the early Christian burial chambers, the Benedictine archabbey considered to be one of the cradles of Hungarian culture, the shrine built for the pagan Roman legionnaires, and the world-famous Tokaj wine growing area.
Our richly illustrated volume presents these nine values, focusing much more on the visuals than on the text: the pictures speak for themselves!
The reader can get to know the natural and cultural treasures and history of the nine locations, and get a glimpse of their wonders in our photos.
