Product description
A talisman is an object that under certain circumstances, e.g. it is made under specific constellations, with consecrated use, through prayer, incense, or from a specific material (wood, metal, leather, parchment, etc.), thus containing spiritual power. According to the old teachings, these spiritual forces can do all kinds of good, provide health, beauty, longevity, wealth and power, as well as protection against diseases, dangers and all kinds of harm. The word talisman itself - based on its sound and meaning - comes from the East, and in the Turkish language it appears as talis, talism, tilism, talismon, which means a miraculous image. Others derive it from the Greek perfection (completion), but it is most likely that the Greeks took the name along with the first talismans from the East, through Chaldea, which was closely connected to India through blood kinship. It existed in India in earlier times and has survived today. a custom according to which the bridegroom wears a tali and amulets around him during the wedding, and this is the most important and defining ceremony of the wedding. The Turks called their priests and scientists who deal with this talismans, the Chaldeans and Persians called them tsilmena, the Greeks called them telesmata, the Romans as an amulet. This word can be derived from amula, a propitiation vessel (consecration cauldron) or amolire. The term amulet probably also came to us from the East, since the Arabs called the stones and the pieces of paper or parchment filled with sayings, worn on a string around their necks, hamalet. This could very easily have given rise to the word amulet, which was then adopted by all European languages. The difference between a talisman and an amulet is that the talisman must attract good influences, while the amulet must serve to ward off harmful influences. Be that as it may, the use of talismans it certainly came from Chaldea or India to the Persians, Arabs, Hebrews, and Greeks, and spread throughout the world under various names.
