Palotás Petra - Kötéltánc - Circus Monte-Carlo 1.

Look behind the curtain! What does the secretive world of the traveling circus hide?

1987. GDR, Dresden
Simone Goldbach, the withered diva approaching her sixtieth birthday, the head and driving force of the multi-generational traveling circus, whispers to her youngest daughter one summer evening that she has every desire to one day escape from the cage of socialism and live up to the name of the family business at the famous circus festival in Monaco.
The rope dancer Isabel, burning with the flame of her twenties, unknowingly involves her two sisters, Antje and Marina, in her plan to reach the jewel box state. However, a successful mission comes at a high price.
How much sacrifice do young artists have to make in order to have a chance at the international competition? Will you be able to persuade Matthias, the girls' handsome magician brother, to go on the risky journey? How does a pair of Hungarian brothers come into the picture, and what role will Borbála and Gergő play in the adventure full of pitfalls?
With Petra Palotás' latest story, Circus Monte-Carlo, we get a real two-part family novel fueled by emotions. A history spanning several countries, which guides us into a special world with the incomparable atmosphere of the eighties. A book in which terror, passion and loss of vision are as prominent on the circus stage as they are in politics.
