Kuvasz has been a loyal companion of the Hungarian people for more than a thousand years, from before the conquest, and is an essential part of Hungarian life and culture. The dog breed was declared a national treasure by the Parliament in 2003, and the Hungarikum Committee added it to the list of Hungarian dogs in 2017 along with the other eight Hungarian dog breeds.
The book "Our national treasure a kuvasz" produced by the Magyar Kuvasz Fajtagondozó Egyesület presents the intertwined history of the loyal shepherd dog and the Hungarian people, its role today, and guides you through its breeding, upbringing and care.
As dr. Emil Raitsits, one of the most famous experts of Hungarian dog breeds, stated at the time: "Our Kuvasz has the noblest traits of the animal psyche, and those who have learned about these good qualities once will only consider Kuvasz as the noblest dog breed."
