Nemere István - Híres párbajok

The history of the world and of Hungary has been varied by many duels, sometimes even changing the course of events. In the pages of the book, the author traces the history of the particular institution from the earliest times to the twentieth century, but most of the space is occupied by the Hungarian dueling heroes of the last one and a half hundred years. We can read about military, political and other duels, the heroes of which are politicians and even statesmen known from the pages of history books, but there were also a good number of writers and poets who stood up to others with weapons. There was a very famous Hungarian writer who wrote his first novel while serving a prison sentence for manslaughter in a duel, there was one who was able to embarrass professional military officers with his arm and sword, and there were times when a duel decided the fate of a battle, or even a war.
