Sofia Colicchio lives her life freely and autonomously. Antonia Russo considers the world around her as a thoughtful, quiet observer. The two girls, who have been best friends since birth, live in the shadow of their father's mysterious community, the Family. During the traditional Sunday dinners, family members gather to discuss business in addition to the abundant feast, and to reinforce the close bond nourished by blood and love again and again. But one day, Antonia's father suddenly disappears, and everything changes from then on.
Sofia and Antonia will soon become young women. As wives, mothers and according to their role in the family, they try to fit in the world of adults. During everyday life in Brooklyn, they are increasingly determined to push the boundaries imposed on them by social expectations, while trying with all their might to preserve their friendship, without which they cannot exist. One fateful evening, however, fate tests their loyalty to each other and to the Family. And only one of them can pull the trigger before it's too late.
The historical family novel set in the first half of the 20th century not only shows the struggle of two determined young women, but also the merciless laws of the mafia with brutal honesty.
