Product content: "From the turn of the millennium, the anti-globalization movement that appeared in Hungary enriched the domestic alternative-green movement with new momentum, previously unknown interpretive frameworks and forms of protest. Presentation of the international demonstrations that were labeled with the pejorative "anti-globalization" in the mainstream Hungarian public. it was mostly limited to the movements of a more radical hard core that did not spare the window displays. However, the critics of globalization formed a much more colorful movement, their goal was to achieve a fair global distribution against neoliberal international regimes such as the IMF, the WTO and the World Bank. Dániel Mikecz's book on globalization critics the result of several years of research work. However, the author's aim is not merely to tell the story of the Hungarian globalization-critical movement, but to use the scientific tools of movement research to understand how globalization criticism meant something different to the Hungarian green, alternative movement in the past and compared to its counterparts. In this way, the book shows how the context of the Hungarian political system and domestic political culture influenced the possibilities of the movement. It also analyzes those movement innovations that were novel in the 2000s and became distinctive features of the globalization-critical movement. We can also find out what contradictions developed within the movement, what led to its institutionalization and finally to the formation of the party that grew out of it, Lehet Más a Politika. The author examines such protest events as the demonstration against the Iraqi invasion in 2003, the protests against the locator planned for the top of Zengő in 2004, the house occupations in Budapest in 2004 and 2005, as well as the first bicycle parades. In addition to the empirical results, due to the thorough processing of the literature, the book is useful reading not only for green, alternative initiatives, but also for researchers, university students and interested parties dealing with social movements and demonstrations in general.
