Three of the four playwrights in the book Contemporary Slovak Drama are also practical theater people. Most of their works presented here are nothing more than psychological games, form-breaking tales without definite contours, attempts to uncover documents and sometimes a bit of black comedy. The authors of the dramas make the new approaches, in their superior possession of language tools, powerful with the tools of strong metaphors and symbols, black humor, paradox, and irony, and by creating new stage forms they are experiential and deeply relatable.
