Marissa Meyer - Instant Karma

The truth will strike - good or bad.

Sickly maximalist Prudence Barnett tends to be quick to judge the lazy, crude and arrogant residents of her seaside town. His dreams of karmic justice come true when, after a night out with friends, he is able to immediately dispense justice to those around him the next morning.

Pru enjoys using her powers, punishing everyone from vandals to evil gossip nests. However, there is someone who, no matter how much he uses his ability, his attempts always backfire: Quint Erickson's useless partner from biology class. Quint is annoyingly handsome and impressively generous, especially when it comes to the shelter he founded to help the local marine animals.

Hoping for a better ticket, Pru volunteers at the shelter and discovers some big truths about baby otters, tampering with nature, and ambiguous romantic signals—not necessarily in that order, of course. With his newfound karmic ability, it becomes clear to him how thin the line is between virtue and ostentation, generosity and selfishness… love and hate… and doom.
