Maria Barbal - Sirató az elveszett földért
3 130 Ft
Product description
The current volume of our series contains two novels that are related in many ways: the protagonist of both of them lives a defining phase of his life in the writer's homeland, in the mountains of Pallars in northwestern Catalonia, in a traditional peasant environment, and the separation from it causes trauma in both of them. The two novels are also related by the fact that their protagonists tell their own lives, here and there seasoning the narration with vernacular elements that test even the routine translator. A common element is the tragedy of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and its tragic consequences. The curves of the two life paths, however, are different: Conxa from Drifting Pebbles only gets as far as Barcelona from her homeland, and from there she hopelessly longs to return, while Agustíja from Honey and Poison, as a wealthy Parisian hotel owner, can afford to buy a house in Pallars and return to the lost paradise. MARIA BARBAL ( Tremp, 1949), one of the best-known and most respected authors of contemporary Catalan literature. His first novel, Sodródó kavics, is a real success book that has sold hundreds of thousands of copies in the three decades since its publication in 1985, and has been translated into dozens of languages. So far, two short stories of the writer have been read in Hungarian, which were published in the narrative volumes of our series (A gondvisélés szésélye, 1998 and Mentafgylalt, 2011).
