Somewhere near Kraków hides an unnamed village, where the townspeople escape from the heat in the summer, but where not even a bird comes in the winter and the wind always blows. You can find out about the little that happens in the village in the pub. Here comes the former legendary child actor, the now aged and retired master, to investigate the death of his friend Doki. Doki met his end here, just a few minutes by bus from the city, in his own weekend house. But did his former drinking buddy die a natural death, or was it in someone's interest to get rid of him? As the master digs deeper and deeper, he gets closer and closer not only to the solution, but also to himself and his past, his youth. In the winding up of the case, the bar girl, the shop woman, a manager with a spoon in everything, and a conceited media worker from Krakow, as well as some bar staff, have an irreplaceable role. In the novel, the layers of today's social and cultural milieu are revealed through the world of Polish pub culture, and the life stories of the characters exemplify the illusions of the contemporary Polish milieu and their loss. The book is a ferocious and humorous continuation of the author's previous work, Thirteen. The story entitled Plusz végéd, which closes the volume, is the conclusion of the master's story in the form of a diary. The disillusioned man roams the streets of Kraków without his faithful companion, his dog, in order to find meaning in his existence, having sobered up from everything and beyond everything. Marcin Świetlicki (1961) is a Polish poet and writer, the uncrowned king of the Krakow alternative music scene. Thirteen (novel, 2021) has been published by the author at Prae Publishing.
