Magellán

Magellan's identity is shrouded in mystery. He is one of the greatest explorers of all time, he revolutionized global shipping, but nobody knows his life story. According to most of his biographers, he never thought of sailing around the world; he was merely looking for a new voyage to the Spice Islands, hoping for wealth. This is what he argued to the King of Spain when he asked him for support for a fleet of ships. The author does not believe these claims. Even then, the powerful were driven more by material interests than by noble goals.
To achieve his goal, Magellan had to deny everything: his ideals, his youthful love and his country. Since his merits were not recognized in Portugal, he sold himself to Spain, where he lived as an outcast ever since. For years, he was forced to fight alone against everyone, only to end up with a second-hand fleet whose ships are commanded by enemy ship captains. He had to face unknown seas and howling storms, deal with mutiny and treachery...
He was driven by a single passion and dream - even if it seemed so impossible - for which he was ready to defy obstacles and all dangers. A dream that didn't stop at transporting spices, making a fortune, and becoming a noble. No. His dream was to conquer the horizon itself. Getting further than anyone before him ever had. The dream image, according to which, starting in the west, he will return from the east, circumnavigating the Earth for the first time in the history of mankind.
For this dream alone, and nothing else, it was worth sacrificing everything. Even his own life...
If it weren't for the explorers, the world would look completely different today. But what do we know about the men and women who were ahead of their time? In fact, history has not recorded much about them. With the DISCOVERERS series, we can be part of the expeditions of these fascinating personalities. These people are determined to overcome every obstacle in their way to achieve their dream...and ours, actually!
