Leif G. W. Persson - A Linda-gyilkosság

Summer in Sweden is unusually scorching. The heatwave has been going on since May, not a drop of rain falls, not even a breeze. Anyone who can, chills in their holiday home. On one of the hot days, a brutal murder stirs up the everyday life of the small town of Växjö. The victim is a young girl who is also a student at the local police academy. Nobody saw anything, nobody knows anything, half the town is on vacation. In the heat, it's as if the police waiting for their freedom seem even more helpless than usual. Therefore, the head of the Stockholm Crime Investigation Institute orders a team from the capital to the scene. He entrusted the lead of the investigation to Chief Inspector Bäckström. Bäckström is an old fox, well-versed in the internal affairs of the police, in the bureaucracy, skillfully manipulates his colleagues, loves his belly, and of course he doesn't disdain the drink either. The fact that the Växjő and Stockholm police officers are investigating in parallel from the beginning, that they are going from one dead end to another, that the press is getting more and more impatient, while the investigation is stalling in one place, seems to be of no interest to anyone. Things will work out somehow...
The truth eventually comes out. But did Bäckström and his colleagues really deliver justice?
