István Komjáthy compiled this volume filling the gaps based on old chronicles, as well as historical and cultural facts, in an attempt to reconstruct the ancient Hungarian mythology, our "naive epic", which János Arany mentions among our lost values in his famous study. The pieces of the volume - like the chapters of a novel - form a rounded whole: from the creation legends that recall Hungarian folk tales to the legends of the Huns who believed in our ancestors, a colorful thread leads to the time of the conquest and then to the birth of King István.
