Product description
In the futuristic Japan of the world after the Great Cut, Evan, the Slovenian theater director, stages a play to escape the memory of a lost love. Before our eyes emerges the picture of the decaying society of an inhuman megapolis, whose members run away from loneliness to drugs. The chaos of the outside world increases the protagonist's homelessness and outcast to almost cosmic proportions.
Meanwhile, in the heart of the Slovenian countryside, we drop into the birthday celebration of the head of the absurdly dysfunctional Volk family, the former minister of defense and politician Kras, which is accompanied by the regurgitation of old grievances and disputes and new conflicts.
Finally, we can get acquainted with the message of the poet Zoja, according to which only art can save society, which was fragmented after the Great Cut that interrupted the Great Cacophony, to such an extent that communication within it became impossible.
All three protagonists get a plane ticket to ©iv, the collision zone where the threads meet. All of them are fleeing the reality of the world system after the Great Cut, which brought with it a world of loss and alienation for people.
The Slovenian author's special post-apocalyptic novel, sometimes grotesquely satirical, sometimes poetically elevated, was enthusiastically received in his country as the author's first independent volume, and in 2016 he won the European Union's Literary Award. It has since been translated into 11 languages.
