Product description
Helena Součková, the former protagonist of Weöres Csepel and Anyegin from Russia, is an adult, forty-three-year-old actress, married, and mother of two children. The period of absurd normalization is a thing of the past, naivety and childlike unrest have been replaced by rationality and the skepticism characteristic of the middle-aged, and the crises of this age are not left behind either.
Dousková's book Dárda is more personal than the previous volumes, but at the same time, it does not lack the author's characteristic precise chronology and social criticism, all seasoned with her usual irony, humor and linguistic inventiveness.
Irena Dousková (1964) was born in Příbram. He studied law in Prague, but never worked as a lawyer. Nine books of prose and two volumes of poetry were published. His most significant works are the loose trilogy Weöres Csepel (Hrdý Budľes, 1998), Anyegin was a ruszki (Oněgin byl rusák, 2006) and Dárda (2011). He draws his themes primarily from Czech everyday life after the Second World War, especially from the period of normalization, his narratives mix comedy and tragedy, the autobiographical tone with transpersonal metaphors or apocrypha. His books have been translated into six languages.
