Hunyadi János

The XV. century, the Hungarian crown and also the Hungarian throne became the object of international demands and demands, precisely at the time when the Turkish threat, which would later completely paralyze the country's fate for a century and a half, first appeared from the east. Therefore, the era that is inextricably linked with the name of János Hunyadi is not one of the peaceful and balanced eras of the country. In this "world" ravaged by anarchy, a simple Transylvanian nobleman, our János Hunyadi, appears almost out of nowhere, and he uses his sword to curb this Turkish menace. But not only ours, but the whole of Christian Europe. That is why she receives from the Pope the honorary title of "athleta Christi", champion of Christ, and this title is reminded of us by the bells that ring every noon in Christian countries. The struggle with the Turks accompanied János Hunyadi's entire life, but while it meant promotion for the simple Végvár knight, it became the great task of his life for the governor. The goal of our book is to give an authentic picture of Hunyadi and his time as much as possible. That is why we draw an authentic picture not only of Hungary, which was torn by party fights, but also of Europe at the time, and of the Ottoman State, which threatened to swallow it up.
