UV filters block the UV spectrum that is present in natural sunlight and is mainly responsible for the unfavorable effects on the image. These filters can be used with both film and digital cameras, and their use allows for more vivid (more contrast and more saturated color) images. In addition, permanently attached to the lens, they also serve to protect it on a daily basis.
