Hoya's patented optical glass technology is used to create tempered glass that is thinner than normal optical glass. This allows the overall thickness of the filter to be reduced to avoid vignetting when using ultra-wide-angle lenses.

Reflected light rays are polarized. Polarizing filters allow you to choose which light rays enter the camera lens. Unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass can be removed and more contrasting colors can be saturated. The effect is visible through the viewfinder and can be changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor changes according to the rotation of the filter and its orientation towards the sun.
