Product description
Cats have been immortalized by many writers in fiction, but who has ever heard of a cat immortalizing human destinies while narrating its own extraordinary life. The protagonist of the book, Savelij, is not just any slob: he thinks, philosophizes and feels like a human, while behaving completely like a cat. It was born in the backseat of a derelict Zaporozhe. He lived in an apartment like a spoiled house cat, but he ran away because he wanted to see the world. He lived in another apartment, but he also ran away from there after smashing the parrot who thought he was an opera singer. He was a member of a rat-catching brigade at the Tretyakov Gallery, and after a sadistic old man nearly took his life, he joined a merry group of Kyrgyz guest worker boys. However, he had to go from there. He spent a short time in a colony of cats in a monastery, but he chose freedom. That's when you meet true love.
Human lives pass by our kandur, so many stories, so many destinies. Love disappointments, bitter lives, sad fates and optimistic, freedom-loving cats. Moscow under construction is buzzing around us, trams are clattering, people are in a hurry, bells are ringing under the golden onion domes.
The characters, whether humans or cats, are flesh and blood characters with their own unique, special destiny.
This is a deeply serious and beautiful novel. About life and death, joy and sorrow. About cats and people.
