The year 2020 was defined by the COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus all over the world. As long as there is no effective vaccine or medicine available, legal regulations will primarily create the basis for protection. These rules, although temporary, significantly change the operation of the legal system and the content of the rules. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the Institute of Law of the Research Center for Social Sciences has been investigating the related issues in Hungary and in international comparison. The studies in the volume analyze in detail the norms of international law, EU law, constitutional law, administrative law and criminal law introduced as a result of the epidemic, or existing before the epidemic, but applied to the special situation, from the special legal order and state responsibility to aviation law, international trade and through organized crime to minority protection, hate crimes and local government regulations. Based on methodological pluralism, we provide the reader with a cross-jurisdictional view of the state of regulation related to the epidemic, and we also try to help professionals and the wider public find their way around this constantly changing system with a legislative index.
