The Descent of Woman is a pioneering work that is the first to argue that the evolutionary role of women is as decisive as that of men. According to the Book of Genesis, God created man first. The woman was a belated idea; mostly the gentle gesture of the Lord towards the man. Then, for two thousand years or so, they tried to explain and justify the subjugation and alleged inferiority of women with this part of the Scriptures, claiming that it is only a copy, and not even the most perfect. After all, she is not like a man in every way; it can hardly be classified as one of the Almighty's most successful creations. Charles Darwin In The Origin of Man, he wrote about the origin of our species in a completely different way, since he did not think in the least that woman was some kind of belated idea; it was obvious to him that the female gender was at least as old as the male. The appearance of the origin of man should have caused a breakthrough in the social relationship of the sexes - but it did not. Almost immediately, the men started their very favorite occupation of justifying the obvious inferiority and irrevocable subjugation of women with brand new explanations - they have been carrying out this elevated task with unbroken enthusiasm ever since. Instead of theology, they deploy a toolbox of biology, ethology and primatology in order to get there - always the same place. Excerpts from the book Elaine Morgan (1920-2013) was known as an author of television series until the publication and international bestseller The Origin of Woman in 1972. He then spent ten years studying human evolution, and in 1982 (2017 in Hungarian) he published his work The Aquatic Monkey Theory, which received the appreciative support of many researchers and scientists worldwide.
