Product description
"Sarcastic and funny. The reservoir is also deep and reflective at the same time. A mystery wrapped in a fever dream. A tale of contagious times."
Chris Carter, creator, director and writer of The X-Files
We see the world and New York affected by the epidemic through the eyes of the former old fox of Wall Street, Ridley, while he looks back on his life in the loneliness caused by the forced quarantine. He weighs his successes, his failures, the painful questions of his career, his divorce, his estranged daughter. As he sits and meditates at night in his huge window overlooking Central Park, Ridley notices lights flickering in an apartment across the park, as if a lonely, quarantined soul is sending him Morse code. His determination to find out who this mysterious lady trapped in her Fifth Avenue tower is calls him on an epic adventure that will ultimately drive him into delusional madness or help him fulfill his mythical destiny. Is Ridley a demented dying man or an ordinary man transformed into a hero? Or both?
This story is a warped dramedy set in this distant age, when a mere touch can kill and conspiracy theories spread like a virus. A contemporary fusion of Death in Venice and Rear Window.
"This beautiful, dreamlike short story reminded me of Gabriel Garcia Márquez because of the romance in the midst of misfortune and the constant humor. I will never look at Central Park the same way again." Amanda Peet, actress
"A heartbreaking story about the hidden complexity of father-daughter relationships, which appears in a kind of artistic farewell letter. Reading the depiction of the overwhelming yearning that comes with aging, I came to the wonderful realization that this is modern Death in Venice." Walter Kirn, author of Lord of the Skies
"One part Rear Window, one part The Plague. David Duchovny's new narrative is an amazingly imaginative lesson in these troubled times. The Central Park Reservoir serves as the canvas on which Duchovny paints a protagonist who is as over-romantic as he is unreliable (or not ?). I had no idea where this story was going, but I was on this journey all along." T Cooper, author of Lipshitz Six, or Two Angry Blondes
