No one ever addresses a fellow passenger on the train - this is an unwritten rule of experienced commuters. But what would happen if they did?
Modern Woman columnist Iona Iverson boards the train to work at Hampton Court station at five minutes past eight every day. Every day he sees the same people around him, to whom he gives different names and invents stories about their lives to entertain himself. But he never exchanged a single word with them. After all, the important rule of commuting is: Don't think of starting a conversation while traveling! Unless you're crazy...
Then one morning, in front of his eyes, an elegant but sexist businessman almost chokes to death on a grape he accidentally swallowed. It is only thanks to the quick help of the suspiciously sympathetic nurse traveling with them that no tragedy occurs on the flight. This unexpected event then sets off a whole series of events, as people - who apparently have nothing in common apart from commuting - start talking to each other.
One morning, however, Iona misses her regular flight. And not the next day either... Can real friendships be forged in such unlikely circumstances? And can Iona count on her new friends when her life is falling apart?
