Product description
Bobită is a teenager who has dropped out of school and is involved in gangs on the outskirts of the big city. He grows up in a truncated family, among small-time gamblers, small people who have lost their existence, alcoholic poets and unscrupulous boomers. In the ecstatic chaos of Romania in the eighties and nineties, he almost unconsciously has to fight for his own place in the strange and constantly changing circumstances. Struggling with the feeling of abandonment, the melancholic young man tries to strengthen himself with drugs, women and alcohol, and after university, his adventurous career as a book publisher begins. Although the world opens up more and more for him - after Bucharest, the scene of events is Canada, Frankfurt and Crete - the lost and burnt out protagonist has to fight with his own internal limitations everywhere.
The twelve more closely and loosely connected stories come together into a bitterly humorous picaresque development novel, which gives an idea of the great transformation of Romanian society and of the generation that lost itself in this transformation.
