Bódi Péter - Hype

In Péter Bódi's fourth novel, we can follow the paths of a group of young adults crossing each other in many different ways through their chat messages. The central location of Hype is the small Italian university town of Macerata. From the messages of Borisz, who arrives at the scholarship program, we get to know the other characters, who get their own voice as the novel progresses. By opening their battle windows, their complex network of relationships, fraught with both conflicts and affections, is revealed. University students and their friends groping in a foreign country, relatives and lovers staying at home are all looking for the answer to the same question with different backgrounds and worldviews: what should I do with my life? Not for the first time, readers of Péter Bódi can marvel at the author's relaxed, authentic way of speaking and his deep knowledge of the mental states of his generation. The literally chatty structure of his new novel and his deliberately corrupted use of language are familiar from our everyday virtual relationships - whether it is homely or not, we will probably think about it precisely because of the Hype.
