Ckó, the photographer is a rich and varied story. Its protagonist, Tamás Boroczkó - nicknamed Ckó - represents the fourth generation of a family of photographers. And the novel covers five eras, from the kingless kingdom to the third republic. Ckó's grandparents photograph the reburial of Kossuth, the bringing home of Rákóczi's ashes, one of the cavalry sailor's big celebrations; his father photographs the April 4 parades of the harsh dictatorship, the events of the 1956 revolution, the beginning of the dictatorship's re-establishment, May 1, 1957; Ckó photographs the reburial of Imre Nagy in 1989. Among his ancestors, those who do not resemble the currently prevailing factors are pushed out, displaced, and locked up. It is about broken life paths and radically different life experiences. Ckó has to constantly and forcibly change in the dictatorship in which he grows up, and of which the writer gives a perceptive picture. Ckó is sometimes arrogant and loud, sometimes a black sheep and a miracle bug, sometimes a liar, a cheater, a swindler, sometimes withdrawn and withdrawn, sometimes he even plays the mentally ill. He is always an outsider, because he wants to be independent from the obligatory tasks imposed on him, from the soul-killing everyday life, and he only wants to exist as a photo artist. In democracy, whose characteristic panorama unfolds before us, with sometimes charming, sometimes horrifying figures, Ckó tries to be an insider, so to speak, but without success. I.-II.: I. Ornamental shrub (little) woman; II. The critic of Élét és Irodalom wrote about this novel: This brave, self-revealing existential, intellectual and corporal panorama revealed through it opens Berkovits's work as a large-scale, musically demanding, important work. His novels, short stories, plays, essays and sociographies have been published. Former high school teacher, journalist-reporter, sociographer, sociologist, worked as an editor for four magazines.
