This volume analyzes the demographic, social, linguistic, educational, legal, political, religious, and media relations of the Transylvanian Hungarians in the last quarter of a century, supplemented by a historical overview between 1918-1989. In addition to the picture of the situation, the central issue of the study volume is the framework for the integration of Hungarians within Romania and the relationship of the minority community to this. Our book is not a history of suffering or decline, but rather we want to interpret the defining characteristics and processes at the level of the science of the time. We would like to present a community that is searching for its place with its talents and resources in the changing Romanian, Hungarian-Romanian and broader regional and international relations of the last century, especially the last 25 years. The role of elites and institutional frameworks is decisive in this. The authors of the volume are mostly employees of the minority research institutes in Cluj-Napoca and Budapest.
