The FRITZ!Box 6850 is a 4G LTE wireless router with Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) designed for home and small office networks. It supports 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE mobile networks (LTE band 2300 MHz), so with a SIM card it can provide an internet connection wherever a fixed line is unavailable. Wireless connections run on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands at up to 866 Mbps.

Four Gigabit LAN ports let you connect additional devices by cable. The built-in DECT base station serves up to six cordless telephones, and a USB port allows external devices to be used on the network.

Security is handled by a Stateful Packet Inspection firewall, encrypted VPN remote access (IPSec) and a DHCP server. A guest Wi-Fi function and automatic channel selection add convenience. The compact device consumes about 6 W and can be mounted on a desk or on a wall.
